Just Got Back: Ireland

Jeri Leahy Techman, VP Marketing, Fresno & Visalia

Where did you Just Get Back from? Brendan Vacations Iconic Ireland and Ashford Castle. (We had 2 double rooms to accommodate 2 adults, 2 children)

When were you in Ireland? August 1 – 12, 2015

Words to describe what you felt when you first arrived: The moment I arrive in Ireland, and in particular the idyllic setting of Ashford Castle, I feel as though I’ve stepped into a beautiful fairy-tale that promises a very happily ever after.

Where did you stay? The Clyde Court in Dublin; Trident Hotel in Kinsale; Killarney Towers in Killarney; Connemara Coast in Galway and Ashford Castle.

With whom would you recommend staying at this hotel / resort? While each of the properties listed is appropriate for multi-generational travelers, The Clyde Court in Dublin strikes me more as a business hotel, but they did have connecting rooms.

Tempt us- Name the most special place you discovered on this trip: Whether you are looking for activity or looking to relax, the magnificent setting of the 350 acre Ashford Castle estate offers a variety of unique experiences. Choose horse riding, fishing, falconry, clay shooting and archery or more contemporary activities such as golf, tennis, cycling and kayaking. Perhaps you would just like to relax in the sanctuary spa where your cares will be replaced with calm. It’s all there and just waiting for you!

What’s the best time of year to go in your opinion? Each season has its own special appeal. I have visited Ireland when the flowers are blooming in spring; when the weather is warmer during the peak season of summer; during the fall when the weather is generally mild, cool and kissed with a touch of soft rain; and during the colder months of winter enjoying a warm fire and Irish coffee. My personal preference is the shoulder season of fall.  It is less crowded, less expensive and always welcoming!

Anything else to add? Seeing and experiencing Ireland anew through the eyes of my grandchildren, Zachary and Cashel, who are 10 and 9 was magical. Where else but Ireland can you replace the cares of the world with a sense of well being just by looking at a rainbow? Indeed, where else creates such a sincere longing to return?
