Where did you Just Get Back from? Baccarat Hotel, New York City

When were you in NYC? Well, I work in NYC, but stayed the night after attending an event end November.

“I work in Manhattan, but live in Connecticut – where I also work from certain days of the week. When my partner and I were invited to attend a city based ceremony for a dear friend, I immediately thought to stay at the recently opened Baccarat Hotel. It’s been high on my list of new properties to check out, and the timing happened to work out perfectly. When I arrived at the hotel, conveniently located directly across from MoMA, I was blown away by the presentation and by the meticulously professional, yet warm staff. The attention to detail at this property cannot be understated. Baccarat crystal elements are weaved throughout the entire hotel, whether it’s the sparkling ceiling, marble tables, or pleated-silk walls. Upon entering the Prestige Suite, I was welcomed with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine along with a handwritten note from the General Manager. (Always a lovely touch J)

If I hadn’t been pressed for time, I would have fully taken advantage of the complimentary blowout offered by the hotel’s Spa de La Mer (it’s the first one in North America, by the way!). I did make sure to check out the pool; which is a stunner – complete with daybeds and sumptuous changing areas.

Breakfast was a speedy but refined one, and drinks in the bar after our event was especially fun because a group of friends visiting the hotel from Hamburg were celebrating a 50th birthday in grand style…”

Where did you stay? The Baccarat Hotel on 53rd street, NYC

With whom would you recommend staying at this hotel / resort? Come with your partner; this is a pretty romantic property. Leave the kiddies at home.

Tempt us- Name something special you discovered during your trip: We were running a few minutes behind for an event just 10 blocks away – and I had 5” heels on! Finding a cab at 6:30 pm in holiday season is tricky – so great to know the hotel has an on-call vintage Citroën DS, and it’s available to take guests anywhere within 15 blocks of the hotel. Within a span of ten minutes, our chauffer had us dropped off – spectacular service.

An NYC insider tip: The signature facial at Sisley on Bleecker Street is luxurious and effective. The brand’s NY flagship is beautifully decorated, bright and happy. Ask for Linda, the manager and set up your self -spoiling or treat a friend.

What is the best time of year to go, in your opinion? Any time is great; but coming in November or December when the city is really lit up is magical. Blocks away from Rockefeller Center and Saks Fifth Avenue holiday windows is a treat.
